Dino Keeper
A virtual pet from the Mesozoic
Three eggs were recovered from the Amber Ridge dig site. Tap one five times and it hatches. From then on it is yours to feed, play with, clean up after and put to bed — and its hunger, mood, energy and patience all run down in real time while you watch.
Dino Keeper
Dino Keeper is a virtual pet game for iOS and Android. Players hatch one of three dinosaur species, name it, and keep it alive by feeding, playing, cleaning and managing sleep. Neglect ends in fossilisation, after which a new egg can be excavated.
What it is
- A pet that notices. Hunger, happiness, energy and cleanliness drift down while the game is open, and the banner above the habitat tells you which one needs you most. Leave a mess and it costs you twice — once in cleanliness, once in mood. Any one of them hitting zero is the end.
- Three species, three silhouettes. Amberjaw, Trihorn and Longneck, each hand-drawn as pixel art and each growing through hatchling, juvenile and adult. A Trihorn keeps its horn the whole way up.
- Amber coins, earned only by playing. Snap dragonflies for a reflex score, supervise a playdate and keep the fun going, or simply raise your dinosaur well. Coins buy ferns, a boulder ball, a Comfy Nest that speeds up sleep, and a rare Golden Genes mutation that turns your dinosaur gold, forever.
- Up to three pals. Invite friends in from the ridge, rename them, and watch the habitat get busier. A pal in residence cheers your dinosaur up on its own — and unlocks the supervised playdate, where you break up squabbles before the fun drains away.
- Fossilisation is real. Let any one of the four bars reach zero and it ends up in the museum, with an epitaph counting the days you managed. Excavating a new egg carries half your coins across, and nothing else.
What it isn’t
- No advertisements, no purchases, no subscription, no energy meter and no daily streak. The whole game is there the moment you install it.
- No account to create, no sign-in, no leaderboards. Nothing knows who you are.
- No network access at all. Not analytics, not crash reporting, not a single request — it works on a plane, and it will still work when nothing is listening.
- No punishment for putting it down. The clock only runs while the game is in front of you, so nothing can starve while you are away.
Free, and complete
Dino Keeper is free. There is nothing to unlock, nothing to buy and nothing held back — the shop trades in amber coins you earn by playing, and that is the only currency in the game.
