Common questions
I paid for the full game, but the later levels are locked again
Open SETTINGS and choose RESTORE PURCHASES. This
asks the App Store what your Apple Account owns and unlocks the levels again.
It works on any device signed in to the account that made the purchase, and
there is nothing further to pay.
Is the purchase a subscription?
No. It is a single purchase that unlocks the levels beyond level 35, once and permanently. There is nothing else to buy in the game.
How do I start over?
SETTINGS → RESET GAME erases your progress,
including the gold marks, and asks you to confirm first. It does not remove a
purchase you have made — the unlocked levels stay unlocked.
Where are the achievements?
The trophy in the bottom left corner of the title screen opens them. It appears only when you are signed in to Game Center: if you do not see it, sign in through Settings → Game Center on your device and reopen the game. Achievements are optional and the game plays exactly the same without them.
There is no sound
Check SOUND and MUSIC in the app’s settings
first. On iPhone and iPad, check the silent switch on the side of the device:
Hextide’s audio is treated as background music, so it is silenced along with
everything else when the switch is set to silent. Android has no such switch —
there the game follows the media volume, and it steps aside entirely while
another app is playing something.
Does my progress sync between devices?
On iOS, no: progress is kept on each device separately. On Android it rides along with Android’s own backup, so a new phone set up from your Google account should find it already there. A purchase follows the account that made it and can be restored on any device signed in to that account.
Can I play offline?
Yes, entirely. The game needs a connection only to make or restore a purchase, and to record achievements if you use Game Center or Google Play Games.
What languages does it speak?
English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Hungarian, Korean, Hindi, Arabic and Simplified Chinese. On iOS, change it from the button in the bottom right of the title screen. On Android 13 and later, set it in Android’s own Settings under Hextide → Language; on earlier versions of Android the game follows whatever language the device is set to.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad running iOS 15 or later, and Android phones and tablets running Android 7.0 or later. The game is played in landscape on both.
Reporting a problem
The more of this you can tell us, the faster it is to fix:
- the device, and its iOS or Android version
- the level number, if it concerns a particular board
- what you expected to happen, and what happened instead
- a screenshot, if the problem is something you can see
